What skill level do I need for this pattern?+
Level: Advanced Intermediate

This pattern is for you if: you've completed 1–2 garments and feel comfortable with more demanding, detailed patterns.

You're likely comfortable with:
  • Following multi-step instructions without losing track.
  • Maintaining a stitch repeat while the project evolves.
  • Keeping consistent tension for a clean finish.
This pattern is broken down step by step and includes support videos to guide you through.
Can I substitute a different yarn?+
Of course. It happens all the time. Just try to stay as close to the original as possible.
  • Yarn weight: this is the most important factor.
  • Fiber: if the pattern calls for cotton, go with cotton; if it calls for merino, use merino or something similar.
For substitution ideas, check yarnsub.com or ask an AI. Here's a ready-to-copy prompt:
"I want to substitute the yarn [ORIGINAL YARN NAME] from this pattern. It's [weight] weight and [fiber content]. I need a substitute available in [country/store]. Give me 5 similar options with fiber content, meters per 100g (or yards), and why they work. Prioritize the same weight and equivalent fiber."
How do I choose the right size?+

The SIRA sweater is designed with a positive ease of 5 cm (2″), meaning the finished garment will be approx. 5 cm (2″) wider than your bust circumference for a comfortable, modern look.

To choose your size, measure your bust circumference (e.g. 86 cm / 34″). Add 5 cm (2″) for the ease (86 + 5 = 91 cm / 34 + 2 = 36″).

Choose the size whose finished chest measurement is closest to the number you obtained.

Community Tips & Extra Resources+

What our testers say:

  • Although the pattern suggests a 4 mm hook, 75% of our testers achieved perfect gauge and ideal drape by going up to a 5 mm hook. Swatch first and don’t be afraid to size up!

  • Since this is a reversible fabric, it’s easy to mix up the sides. We recommend placing a stitch marker on the “Right Side” of each piece as soon as you finish it. This is key when seaming the shoulders and sides, so you don’t accidentally join a piece inside out.
